Ethnological Exhibition

The Permanent Ethnological Exhibition presents the heritage of the Savinja region, which extends from NW to SE, from the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, the Upper and Lower Savinja Valley and the Šalek Valley to the area around Celje, the Dravinja Valley, and the Kozjansko and Sotla Valley areas.

The objects in the exhibition shed light on the way of life of the rural population of these areas in the nineteenth century and the first half of the twentieth century. They tell us stories about economic activities and crafts, about how people lived, and about folk art and beliefs.

One of the oldest and most interesting items in the exhibition is a painted wooden chest dating from 1818. What is hidden inside it? Take a peek!
