Inspired By The Defender

The Land Rover Defender is a great example of how even a rugged, off-road utilitarian vehicle can become a stylish status piece. The British automaker recently shared the Defender’s design language with watchmaker Bamford London and developed a collaborative limited edition timepiece — the LR001.

Designed by Land Rover and built by Bamford London, the 40 mm LR001 has a sleek grey titanium case with a matching grey cut-away dial. The cutaway areas are treated with a luminescent finish and emit a subtle green hue in the dark. The minimalistic dial is adorned with Bamford’s logo at the top and the text ‘LR001’ and ‘100m’ — the latter referring to its water-resistant ability — in the brand’s signature light blue at six o’clock. The watch is powered by an automatic movement with 28,800 Vph and 41-hour power reserve. Both Land Rover and Bamford logos are embossed on the caseback.

With sustainability in mind, all four strap options of LR001 are created from a leather alternative. The black, light tan, and dark tan straps are made of corn-derived sustainable PU leather, and the navy strap is crafted from a woven recycled nylon called Cordoba.

The LR001 is available on the Bamford website and is limited to only 100 examples.
