The museum’s small collection of artwork from this region is represented mainly by the Batak people of Indonesia.

Batak is a collective term used to identify a number of ethnic groups predominantly found in North Sumatra.

Many cultural subgroups exist, and both Islamic and Christian influences are depicted in artworks.
