Subtle Evolution

Subtle Evolution

The Rolls-Royce Phantom has been one of the go-to models for those who enjoy the finer things in life for almost a century. The luxury saloon is current in its eighth-generation, and Rolls-Royce has just announced a series of subtle changes to be applied to the 2023 Phantom Series II and Phantom Extended Series II.

The automaker has stated that these light design touches and aesthetic enhancements are based on clients requests, but the overall presence and feel of the Phantom remains. The grille is now illuminated, as first seen in the Ghost, while the headlights now feature detailed laser-cut bezel starlights that mimic the Starlight Headliner found inside the car. A suite of new wheels — including a milled, stainless steel wheel with with triangular facets — can be specced, though the option of having elegant disc wheels in polished stainless steel or black lacquer is even more appealing. Smaller details such as a darkened chrome grille surround, black bonnet reins, windscreen surround, and side frame finishers have also been made available as per owners’ demands. The interior stays much the same, save for the steering wheel, which is now slightly thicker.

Rolls-Royce has also created the Phantom Platino to showcase the endless possibilities of a bespoke Phantom. Inside the silver-white body, the front seats are finished in fine Rolls-Royce leather, and the rear seats are interestingly upholstered in two different fabrics — a silken textile created in an Italian mill and a bamboo-derived fibre, both featuring an abstract pattern based on the Spirit of Ecstasy. This is the level of opulence Rolls-Royce is famous for.
