It took Cartier eight years, five different constructions and three prototypes to reach this level of transparency. Evoking the aesthetics of its mystery clock where the hands appear to float on the dial with no apparent attachment to gears, the new Masse Mystérieuse at least features a half circle movement.

Skeletonised to complement the weightlessness of the watch’s appearance, all components are packed into half the size of a regular movement. Its shape is also indicative of its most extraordinary aspect—it is also the rotor that feeds it energy! How this is achieved is truly a testament to the ability of Cartier’s watchmaking team.
